Calhoun Church of Christ Youth

The Youth at the Calhoun Church of Christ are very active in many areas.  Below are some of these that our youth participate in along with regular church youth activities.

Venturing Program ages 14-21

 

           Venturing is a youth development program designed by the Boy Scouts of America for Churches to use with their young men and women ages 14 through 21 years of age.  Venturing’s purpose is to provide positive experiences that help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

             Venturing is based on a unique relationship between youth, adult leaders, and their religious organizations.  Usually a local congregation organizes a Venturing crew by matching their youth group “personality” to the resources available.  The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.

 

 

 

Summer Camp—Camp Wetoga         Ages 8 years—college

 

Wetoga Bible Camp– located in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Every year, normally the second week in June, our youth gather together and go to camp for a week.  They enjoy lots of great fellowship, fun of all kinds and great food.  Between campfires, the mud slide, swimming and playing ball, they enjoy wonderful and powerful Bible lessons, devos  , singing and watching baptisms in the pool. This is a very uplifting time for our youth as well as for our adult volunteers.

 

 

Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes 1st grade - College

 

Lads to Leaders & Leaderettes—This program is geared to learning the Bible and learning how to share God’s word.  Boys will learn how to read the Bible out loud, lead singing to a group, prepare and give a speech to a group and much more.  Not only does this prepare them to be leaders of the church, it also prepares them to be great leaders in the community. Girls will learn the same categories.  They will not be in or mixed with the boys-nor will events be attended by men, but it will give them the ability to be great Sunday school teachers, church workers and  great leaders in our community through any career they choose. This also offers arts, computer, puppets and much more.
